I’m not sure if I was always curious about our planet or when the spark occurred, but I largely credit my parents ducktaped travel fund shoebox stuffed with various bills and coins saved over the years for piquing the interest of my young mind. One of the best decisions of my life was to pursue studying abroad in Australia during my junior year of college. The memories created during those five months outside of my home bubble were more valuable than anything a classroom could instill upon me.
In the eight years since I took that first leap of traveling abroad by myself I have been blessed to be able to sample cultures that differ from ours from across the globe. Some may call it being a millennial, but my bank account of experiences is overflowing and could never be surpassed by additional commas or material goods. One of the qualities that endears me to traveling is its ability to humble by revealing that there’s always another way to do, think, or be in this world.
So who am I? I’m an opportunist. I take advantage of this incredible world that sits before us and search for the adventure that is awaiting around the corner. One of my favorite things to do is to turn off data on my phone and just wander around a new city getting lost in streets and alleys until my feet start to hurt.
I’ve known for a while that I would not be content with the normal American dream of career, house, and family within my bubble of comfort. So once I had saved up enough money from my accounting and finance careers I hit the eject button and sought out what the world had in store for me! The previous summer I had the chance to go on a sailing adventure and was hooked on the waves of our ocean. Sailing has opened up an amazing world on the water and incredible people along the way.
Enough text on the page, I think who I am will become even more apparent as this blog rolls on while I eat, wander, and explore my way across our beautiful world.
